The film

A name carried across an ocean and a century.

How it works

Four steps. One outcome.

We've shaped the chaos of bureaucracy into a calm, four-step process. You'll always know what's happening and what comes next.

I

Eligibility

A 15-minute call to map your lineage and identify the cleanest legal path: consulate, comune, or court.

II

Records

Our genealogists in Italy and document team in the US gather every record, apostille, and certified translation in your dossier.

III

Filing

We submit your complete dossier at the consulate of jurisdiction, your ancestral comune, or — for 1948 cases — the appropriate Italian court.

IV

Recognition

When recognized, we register you with AIRE, apply for your passport, and welcome you, formally, home.

The place it begins

Every line we trace ends at a comune— a small town hall holding a record with your family’s name.

From day one, The ctzn felt like more than just a service provider, they were true partners in this journey. They handled my case from start to finish: vital records, translations, citizenship recognition, and even getting my passport once everything was approved. I never felt lost or alone in the process. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to finally claim their Italian roots.

FAQ

Common questions, clear answers.

Don’t see yours? Send us a note — we review new enquiries within 24–48h, in English, Italian, or Spanish.

Under the 2025 Law, citizenship by descent is no longer automatic for people born abroad who already hold another citizenship: eligibility now focuses on the direct line — a parent or grandparent — and proven ties. The previous rules still apply if your application or appointment was booked by 27 March 2025, if a parent or grandparent held only Italian citizenship, or if a parent legally resided in Italy for 2 years before your birth. Maternal lines before 1948 are handled by court petition (the "1948 rule"), which we specialize in. The free eligibility check tells you which case is yours.
